Morin selected to perform in 35th Annual Opus Honor Choir Festival

7th grader Syndy Morin was recently selected for participation in the 35th annual Opus Honor Choir Festival. Over 2100 students were nominated by their directors for 720 positions in the four Opus Honor Choirs. Selections were made by means of a recorded audition. Guest conductor of the 7-8 Treble Choir was Cheryl Thompson, Atlantic Middle School, 7th & 8th Grade Treble Clef Honor Choir.

Before the meeting, several members participated in the Benton County Friends of 4-H rolling skating event. The meeting started at 4:30 P.M. By: Co-Reporter, Isabel Mullinex On November 3rd, 22 Greenhand members from the Vinton Shellsburg FFA chapter participated at the District Greenhand Fireup at Wapsie Valley High School. This day was dedicated to encourage members to become involved in FFA and to get them “Fired-Up” about the amazing opportunities this organization provides. The sessions that the past and current State and District Officers organized included True Blue Communication, This or That, We Are FFA, Keep it Real, and dodgeball.

Keep Iowa Beautiful (KIB) will award three $1,000 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors in 2022 who plan to enroll in an Iowa college or university. The scholarships are in honor of three pioneers in Keep Iowa Beautiful's 21-year history:Bob Byers--Educator. Through Bob's leadership, KIB's Litter-Free School Campus program was started in NW Iowa.
